Formatting quotations in The Archive

Here's one for the purists... I quite often put excerpts of poetry in my archive, and would like to try and format them correctly in Markdown. At the moment, they look like this in The Archive:

I'd like each line to be properly indented, and obviously adopting the same format as a full quotation (I'm using the '>' sign to denote a quote, but only the first line of the quote adopts the correct format).

Any ideas?

Love and respect,
Jem

  • With Markdown, every line/paragraph of the quote needs to start with ">"; It is not sufficient to just put one ">" at the beginning of the quoted text.

Fortunately, you don't have to type those in by hand in The Archive. Instead, you can just select the whole quote and then either click on "Format->Quote Level->Increase" in the menu bar or use the keyboard shortcut ⌘' to add the ">" characters.

If you like The Archive's "PrettyFunctional (Basic)" theme, consider upgrading to the "PrettyFunctional (Regular)" theme.

  • Thank you very much, Basil. That makes perfect sense.

  • Great you resolved this. Thanks @Basil for chiming in :)
