Use ZK for Project to Create New Business or Use Other Method?

Hello,

I'm probably going to retire from current job in a year.

I would like to use the time until then to work on my ideas for a new business venture to utilize my extensive professional experience in architecture, planning, urban design, management, and for past 20+ years leading a team of project managers executing capital projects for a healthcare organization. Would like to share this knowledge with others wanting to develop their knowledge and skills and develop their careers.

Wondering whether using a ZK is a good way to develop my ideas for what I will do for this new business. There are several topics I am considering to include for this and think perhaps a ZK would help me develop the ideas and be able to see connections between the topics to have a wholistic approach.

What do you all think about this?

Would appreciate any guidance on this and if you think ZK is a good way to go, how would you structure this in a ZK. And if you think I should approach this in a different manner, what you think would be a good method.

Thank you for any and all inputs.

Mark

Developing ideas sounds exactly what a ZK could help with. For actual business organization, with goal and task management, you eventually need a different tool. But the content? Could fit like a glove 👍

It's hard for me to recommend "these 3 ZK hacks will change your business forever" :) Do you have any particular questions or doubts? What's your second best option, if not a Zettelkasten, to develop business ideas and plans?

  • Thanks so much for your helpful input!

    Understand your points.....

If I didn't use ZK for developing business plan, perhaps I would setup a series of note files in org-mode in Emacs.

  • The simple overview on how to approach this:

    1. A structure note for your top-level view of your business model.
    2. You go into more details on individual notes that you link to from your structure note.

The design of your structure note is directly dependent on the framework that you like to use for your business model (e.g., business canvas, etc.)

It is the same as using your Zettelkasten to analyse an already existing company: You are creating a representation of a business. It is just the other way around with no truth source in reality.

    I am a Zettler

  • Thank you, Sascha, for your input and helpful advice on this.

Understand what you're saying. Will give this a try!

Lot of flexibility when there is no truth source in reality!
