Hi everyone !
Hello everyone ^^
I'm Fortuna and use a half-analogue half-digital zettelkasten since 2018 : I was in a dire need of a knowledge management system then for my PhD, and even after my defence in 2022, I kept using it for papers writing, but also for my various teachings and fiction writing ^^
I have a bilingual system, because I'm publishing and teaching both in French and English depending on the topics, and I use also Obsidian and a printed paper version because of a sight disability (typing my cards is extra helpful as I read most of my books and papers with a text-to-speech software, and who need eyes when they know enough their keyboard to type ? But I definitely prefer to re-read them on paper ^^” Even an e-ink screen is tiresome for me). So far, the system helped me write and defend my phd (publication soon !), plan my classes and teach them (I’m a high school literature teacher ^^), plan and publish novels and short stories under a pen name, and take an additional bachelor in psychology in order to be able to become a teacher for special needs and disabled students (it’s needed to have one here, on top of your teaching qualifications, which is a good thing).
Now that I have a bit more free time, and as I was a silent reader of this forum as well as various reddit posts during the time I started my zettelkasten, I’m happy to be there to contribute to the various discussions around ^^

Hi @Fortuna,
Welcome to the forums. It's great to have another person with a sight disability here. I still have enough central vision to read material if I make the font large enough, so I rely strictly on digital formats. I can't read physical books anymore. I love having authors read their audiobooks to me. I'm struggling to find a smooth and pleasant text-to-speech voice I can tolerate. Do you have any suggestions?
When you say that you prefer to reread the typed note on paper, are they typed in braille?

My peak cognition is behind me. One day soon, I will read my last book, write my last note, eat my last meal, and kiss my sweetie for the last time.

Ha! "I am Fortuna" is similarly powerful as "Call me Ismael".
I am a Zettler
Thank you @Will
I get it : I only see with some area of my vision field, so it's coming with a whole world of constraints : audiobooks and E-ink screens have honestly been life-savers to me
Yes, I print all my notes in braille ^^ I have a special printer at home ^^ That in addition to text-to-speech softwares have given me an unexpected autonomy as a teacher and researcher ^^
Ahaha, thanks @Sascha ! It's just a pseudonym I have had for a bit of time ^^ I really love Carl Orff's Carmina Burana ^^
