Zettelkasten Quotes

edited December 10 in The Zettelkasten Method

“The unconnected note is not worth keeping.”

Inspired by “The unexamined life is not worth living. - Socrates” and Nick Milo

Insight: A Zettelkasten thrives on interconnected ideas. Notes without links lack the dynamic power to contribute to the larger knowledge system.

  • @Edmund Haha! Good idea; I'm sure we'll see some funny and/or profound quotes here. I'll look for some.

  • “Connections are more important than notes.”

Inspired by: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. - Albert Einstein“

Insight: The value of a Zettelkasten lies in the relationships between notes, not the volume of isolated entries.

Perhaps, wrongly attributed to Nietzsche (I can't find the source, but liked the quote)

Deep is the well of truth and long does it take to know what has fallen into its depths. (source = ?)

Depth of processing is the well of knowledge and long does it take to know the depth of an idea.

Interesting. I do worry about unconnected notes. I worry that by not being connected they might be lost. Perhaps I should be asking myself if they're unconnected then does it matter if they're lost.

  • “I connect, therefore I understand.”

Inspired by “I think, therefore I am. - René Descartes”

Insight: Understanding emerges not just from thinking but from synthesizing ideas through meaningful links.

  • there's so much wisdom in here, I can't find anything.

Master Shifu in Jade Palace Scroll Room, Kung Fu Panda 3.

Insight: The collectors fallacy looks like an ancient library with the feel of a slightly messy, neglected attic that no one has been in for years.

  • “He who has a purpose for his Zettelkasten can bear any structure.”

Inspired by ”He who has a why to live can bear almost any how. - Friedrich Nietzsche”

Insight: A clear purpose for your Zettelkasten ensures its structure and content remain focused and useful.
