[Zettel Feedback] Team work antipattern to start a discussion
Today, it's a reflective note: I don't have a source to cite! * "Antipattern" is a term from my coding bubble to describe "things that happen regularly but which are a bad idea" * Do you have ideas for tags? I currently have #team #antipattern #work #leadership * Is "open-ended question" what I hope it is? "Closed… -
Getting an Index (or list of tags)
Hey Y'all. I've been hunting around for zettlekasten software. ZKN3 looked super-promising, and could potentially be an amazing app. But it apparently gets very slow as the number of notes increases, and its file format is so obscure that you might be in trouble if it ever gets corrupted. Zettlr was irritating to use -… -
A Zettelkasten - Anki setup
Hello! I was wondering for a while how I could integrate Anki into my Zettelkasten. I found a way with a great code by Pseudonium called Obsidian-to-Anki: https://github.com/Pseudonium/Obsidian_to_Anki. This allows you to import flashcards from a .md file and to create your own regex to define which cards should be… -
Change header tags into Mac OS tags
Hello! Right now, my tags are included in the header of the notes ---Tags: #Anytag Date:--- To navigate my files, I create manually SmartFolders with the condition "Content includes #Anytag" for each tag. This is a bit cumbersome as it forces me to add a new SmartFolder each time I add a new tag, and I don't have a simple… -
What kinds of notes do you have in your archive?
Not every note in my archive is the same in kind. I did a quick review of the different types of notes I’m currently using: * General “Idea” notes * Bibliographical review/annotation (#ƒ) * Summaries (#ƒ, loc: 0) * Quotes (#ƒ, #cit) * Primary source commentary (#λ) * Bibliography lists (#bib, .taskpaper) * Journal… -
Re: Definitions in Literature Note vs. Zettel Note
As my Zettelkästen has grown, I have been struggling with a decision over keeping all notes in one "folder" vs. dividing into two folders, one for literature notes and another for personal notes. For now, I have decided to keep all together. And the reason is that The Archive very much satisfies me with its use of keywords… -
Re: [Zettel Feedback] Team work antipattern to start a discussion
From a first-person perspective, these are bad habits. #discussion-strategy Open-ended doesn't mean without end. It refers to having an open mind in sending and receiving the discussion. I don't know what you mean by "an "open-ended question" would be sth to just talk about." "sth" must be German; it's not an English word.… -
Re: What is your preferred metaphor for Zettelkasten? And why?
Pulling this back on topic by querying my own zettelkasten... I've got versions of most of @Will's excellent list in my notes as well, but here are a few other metaphors (and analogies) which I don't think have been mentioned: * child rearing; perhaps @Sascha will have an experienced perspective on this now? * Digestion /… -
Re: Why Categories for Your Note Archive are a Bad Idea
Since you didn't mention the following, I'd like to point out that the beneficial effect of categories you describe can also be achieved by combining tags. E.g. #recipe can be too broad for a programmer's ZK, but #cooking+#recipe limits the results to food, while e.g. #ansible+#recipe limits it to technical instructions.… -
Re: Why use direct links when Structure Notes are so great?
Despite my protestations, I haven't been using Folgezettel, but I've been resisting structure notes as much as possible. My preference is "Think globally, link locally." Meaning that my Zettels link to "related neighbors" somewhat like the Folgezettel IDs Luhmann used, which indicate either the continuation of a prior…
