  • Pressure cooker idea is interesting @Sascha . The bias towards developing ideas in a vacuum might be like refusing to learn arithmetic because it would be unoriginal.

  • Thanks again @Sascha for this coaching session! :-)

One of the biggest misunderstandings I had about the Flower of Knowledge is that the goal is to develop that specific idea, not the other ideas related to it.

For example, when we started developing the aspect of Beauty, I intended to develop the beauty of another idea (the beauty of "the myth of the collaborative genius"). But the work that needed to be done was to understand what the beauty of the myth of the lone genius is: a lone genius has a beauty similar to that of an "attractive killer" (you know you shouldn't be a killer, but you can still be very attracted to their beauty, haha). The advantage of being strict about this is that if I understand the beauty of the lone genius well, I'll be in a better position to critique it and offer a better alternative.

Finally, I've been wanting to delve deeper into these ideas about creativity for a long time. Thanks to the Flower of Knowledge, I now have an alternative path that doesn't require reading new material.

  • Thanks for sharing the session. It was an engaging case study on how Sascha's concept of knowledge creation applies to someone else's developing notes. It made for great company on my long walk.
