Argument Maps for Zettelkasten
Reading posts and articles in this forum is always a great pleasure. One of my latest readings from @Sascha : Develop Empathy with your Future Self was full of insights. I also found a quote here that resonates with me:
So I kept it as a reference note in my Zettelkasten. However, this was only the first step. How could I find links to my existing notes?
- Are there any existing notes that support this statement?
- Are there any objections?
- Are they based on experiences, opinions or facts?
A great article from @Sascha , a small note for my Zettelkasten and, unexpectedly, a discussion between this new note and my existing ones. My idea: Why not using an argument map to visualize all arguments on one page? And there are different styles of argument maps to visualize the individual elements of an argument and the relationships between them:
- Cluster map,
- Mind map,
- Tree map and
- Double bubble map.
Which type of argument map would you prefer?
- A cluster map that represents a group of several discrete items that are close to each other.
A mind map that organizes information into a hierarchy, showing relationships among pieces of the whole.
A tree map that represents the hierarchical nature of a structure.
A double bubble map that is a tool for comparing and contrasting things.

Can I ask what is the app that you used to create this tree map?
I prefer an outline map:

A perfect example to use a simple outline. Thank you for sharing. It inspired me to "translate" my argument map to plain text with some icons:
And it saves time and effort for editing.

It's my prefered tool SimpleMind I've used for all of these four argument maps. I've only changed the style sheet.

@Edmund I have the SimpleMind license, too. Although I'd prefer it to have a web-browser version, too, and third-party integrations. It still seems an app from the 2000s.

Just an update. I used the argument map from above with a better focus on the key terms (black bubbles). And here is a filtered version with key terms only:
Key terms are represented as Reference Notes in my Zettelkasten. In my keyword index I find the related backlinks. Here in example for key term "Insights":
