TaskPaper syntax -- indentation and link formatting for notes
in The Archive
Besides general note taking, I would like to use The Archive to plan upcoming projects. This would include collecting information, notes, and links as well as quickly jotting down tasks. When the tasks actually have to be done, I would like to transfer them over to my task manager (OmniFocus) and schedule/organize/complete them there.
A natural fit for transferring the tasks is to use TaskPaper syntax in The Archive and to copy/paste the text into OmniFocus. Unfortunately, task notes in TaskPaper syntax (i.e., indented text) is not formatted nicely in The Archive
- links aren't displayed as clickable links
- longer note text that is longer than 1 line isn't indented at the indentation level it was created at
Can I change this behavior somehow (e.g., by modifying a theme file)? Thanks!
Howdy, Stranger!

Agreed, this is one of many behaviors that would be awesome for The Archive to be able to help me with.

Without looking, I think the indentation behavior could be changed in the theme file, but not the linking behavior.
You can change indentation in themes, but not the way you want You probably want to have it look like this:
That does work for list items themselves (although not for the lines following after) which wrap around and indent so that each line starts on the same vertical column. I consider to activate this for every line so you can visually indent properly. But you're right, that doesn't work at the moment.
Links become clickable when you add
http://
, by the way. The "link finder" doesn't recognizewww.
on its own right now.Author at Zettelkasten.de • https://christiantietze.de/
Yes, that's what I had in mind!
OK, it would be awesome if you would implement this.
Hm, in my case they won't:
I second a request for this modification -- would be hugely useful.
Any idea of a timeline on the next significant update, @ctietze?

Ok, noted! Line breaks mess with the indentation, that's the problem @Januz
@apoc527 There are some things in the pipeline for a couple of weeks now (see the release notes) that I want to bundle up and release as v1.1.0 next weekend. You can try the "Cutting Edge" channel if you cannot wait

@ctietze Nevermind, you updated! I've been on the Cutting Edge channel and I was just curious because it had been a while since the last Cutting Edge update. ;-)

@ctietze Thanks for update!
Btw, as I saw that you changed something regarding the formatting of links in v 1.0.6 (which might solve the problem of indented links not being clickable on my machine), I just tried to switch to the Cutting Edge channel, but The Archive wouldn't open, but just crashes. I'm still on El Capitan, is that a problem?
@Januz Whoa! That shouldn't be a problem Please send me the crash reports (from the built-in Console.app) via email so we can see what did go wrong.

@ctietze sorry to bother you again with this, but I still would very much like to use TaskPaper syntax and have it properly displayed in TheArchive (indentation and clickable links). Did you have the chance to look into it? Thanks!!
Clickable links should work, e.g.

in your example. As for TaskPaper, it's still deferred until the new MultiMarkdown highlighting is implemented -- that's a work in progress now.Author at Zettelkasten.de • https://christiantietze.de/
@ctietze Thanks for getting back to me! I'm looking forward to TaskPaper syntax being implemented.
Indented links still don't seem to be clickable on my system. For example, in the following note only the last link, which is in a list environment, works:
@ctietze Sorry for bugging you again with this issue, but I still wish for TheArchive to be able to properly display TaskPaper syntax. Is this still on your agenda? Thanks!
Yes. The editor revision is still in the works and will take some more time, though.

Thank you, Christian. I'll be patiently waiting
