Very interested in Zettelkasten but...
Hi - First post to the forum. I'm very interested in the principles of Zettelkasten for exploring ideas but as a landscape painter almost all of my discussions (with myself!), journal entries, blog posts etc have images embedded. I have invested in The Archive but as far as I can tell it can't handle images. I've experimented with Apple Notes and that might work too. I also downloaded the trial of Tinderbox but it's crazy expensive. So I was wondering if anyone else has found an ideal solution for Zettelkasten with images - or am I trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole?
Thanks
Rhod

As you can see here, image preview is coming to The Archive soon. Until then, you could use the app FSNotes instead, which already supports image preview.
Hi Vinho and thanks for that - I look forward to the release.
You can download the beta and try it right away
@Rhod I wrote this in detail for someone asking using images in their ZK;

TL;DR: You can insert images in iA Writer (paid), or Atom (plus markdown packages) (free open source).
There are probably more closely aligned systems with your use case than pure Zettelkasten software like The archive. I've been an extensive journal writer for my entire life; I take pictures while hiking to update trip reports and Blogs. I enjoy taking notes while reading books of interest and work notes. I currently use Notion for all of the above, including my Zettelkasten, which includes pictures, memes, charts when desired. Other platforms such as Roam have also been mentioned in the forums. Below is a shortened example of a Zettel Note in Notion.
Thanks very much for this. I already have iA Writer and Atom so I will give them a try
Thanks for this. I have looked at Notion but thought it was only for team collaboration. Do you have a subscription or is the free version enough for your needs? Also, I'm always a bit wary of apps where you have to subscribe and upload your data. Having tried many note taking apps I'm coming around to the idea that simple is best and if it wasn't for my need to have images it would be easy (and the images which are often used for comparisons, need to be visible, not just links to files in a separate folder).
Hi, sorry to be dense but I can't seem to find a link to the beta version. Could you let me know how to find it? Thanks
You can find the thread for the discussion on this at:
https://forum.zettelkasten.de/discussion/1532/the-archive-b168-b169-check-out-the-image-preview-dangerous-beta-build#latest
Note that there is quite a bit of "stuff" in that thread, not all of which will be of interest to you. @ctietze in the first post gave a link for the beta (version b168), but then updated the beta a few days later (version b169). Read the comments back from various people between Christian's posting of b168 and b169 for sure - that is where a lot of the early bug reports were happening. But if you download and run b169, you should get a good idea of what the in-line image viewing will look like.
Here is a link to version b169 of the beta:

Thanks! Going to have a play with it today.
