I recently came across this post about Bill Gate, and how he reads by writing. The article itself is rather short (and promotes their own tool), but it also links to the part of the interview with Bill talking about it. I figured others might like seeing that too:

The most important part, I think: You need time to warm-up. This is friction cost and will be minimised by working in the biggest time chunks you can manage to concentrate on one matter.
