Should I use software context or manual linking method?

Hello,

In this post of Christian, he suggested to link notes manually and even if the software we're using provides such automation for linking, we should stick to the manual method. I couldn't precisely understand the reason for this approach. Is it because if software developers make a change to this feature, then our note network would be gone, or is it because getting our hands dirty is more useful? I'm asking because it takes so much time to manually link notes to each other and thinking the possible amount of knowledge that I'm going to consume, wouldn't context be more useful?

The reason is to make you independent from software and make your Zettelkasten usable by most text editors if needed.
