Re: Links to studies
Hello, thank you for your answer! Can I just link to the page I got the information from? Because I find it unrealistic to link to every statement unless it is word for word the same (quotes). I haven't seen this anywhere, people have always only linked to the page where the claim is found or the information in general… -
Re: Links to studies
Echoing Sascha's advice: cite everything that does not originate in your head. It pays off quickly. Example: 12 sources that "inspired" a note of your cannot be used productively. You cannot just take one very important sentence, or select a part of the claims in the note . Where are the ones you selected from? An… -
Re: How do you determine what the "parent" of a Zettel is?
@ctietze Maybe I'm underappreciating the parent--child meaning? I'm taking it to mean that the 'parent' note is the source of another note's creation. This isn't related to Folgezettel (but I also don't think the OP was referring to this either?) Practically speaking, it's the same idea that I got from the 'References'… -
Re: LaTeX Zettelkasten Project for Mathematicians (and other LaTeX users)
Also note that Pandoc Markdown supports implicit reference links in the following form: Here's a reference to [Example Theorem][] and to [Other Theorem][] in another document.[Example Theorem]: #theorem:example-theorem[Other Theorem]: another_document#theorem:other-theorem This may be the most readable form for the kind of… -
Re: LaTeX Zettelkasten Project for Mathematicians (and other LaTeX users)
Yeah it's good. I've been able to get the example mostly working using a custom pandoc template - by default pandoc doesn't at all optimize for readable LaTeX output. I still have a few issues for which I'm not sure if there are easy fixes. The main problem is that pandoc-amsthm always writes the \newtheorem definitions at… -
Re: Feeling a bit scattered
I still have a nagging feeling that some magical and obscure note is lurking deep in my zettelkasten that I can't link to every time I create a new note. It gets worse the more notes I have. I'm okay with doing the best I can and practising to get better. What you call a Reference Note sounds like what I call a Structure… -
Re: The struggle with notes/writing
@zettelkastenkampf I am not sure how relevant my experience is to your situation, but I shall share it as a starting point. Firstly, whilst I am intellectually strong overall, I have what I've been told are strong ADHD tendencies and as a result I too find it easy to be overwhelmed when going through a text, and I struggle… -
Re: Feeling a bit scattered
I've been building my zettelkasten only a little longer than you (4 months). I had a similar feeling around the 2nd month. I took it to be a sign that my system and workflow were not sustainable in the long run. I got my bearings again by tweaking my workflow to reduce friction. I detail some of the changes I made below,… -
Re: Getting Started: Confused on Zettel
Oh, and about this: (Aside, I think "zettel" would refer to a single note, whereas "zettelkasten" is the whole collection.) If you have a lot of literature and source material, then I'd recommend using a digital reference manager (like Zotero,) but if you think that it is a bit too much, then I would suggest that you… -
Re: [SOLVED] [REQUEST] Finding orphans
@thoresson Just a suggestion: If you're not comfortable with running a script, you can always open your archive with sublimeless_zk and use the built-in Find Notes by Number of Links to them. This will show all orphan notes by default. [edit: No it won't. You have to set maximum to 0]. You can also enter minimum and…
