How the Barbell Method of Reading and Note-Making Saved My Life.
When I started my ZK in 2018, I adopted the Barbell Method of Reading as my note-taking workflow. I've made only minor tweaks over time. Today, I still adhere to the core idea of reading freely, quickly noting everything that captures my interest, and then revisiting and processing those notes before adding them to my ZK,… -

Swimming with Ideas This is yet another opportunity to share with your friends what you are working on. Add to this discussion by telling us about your zettelkasten journey. [Bug Report] Multiple tabs and windows triggered by Saved Search hotkey
I have a hot key associated with the #proofing Saved Search. After the last update the hotkey now triggers the saved search in all tabs and all the multiple windows that are open rather than just the one with the focus. I usually operate in the two-window mode. I tried changing the hotkey but no joy. -
Re: critique my zettel: Difference problem–task - does next step require thinking or action
I use one tag to corral immature notes in my inbox. I use the tag #proofing. I prefer the concise old version of your note. You don't need to format your links with round brackets ([[20241220091129]]). Links can be formatted [[20241220091129]]. What does Ü2 mean? What is your thinking about including it in the title and as… -

Saint Augustine instructs Francesco Petrarch on the ZKM
Critique my zettel. This one is an atomized idea from my reading of _Manguel, Alberto. A history of reading. 2014. _ It is longish at 436 words and includes AI help with translation, a Wikipedia link, the relevant quote, and my assimilation into my ZK. With your help, it can be improved. The content of this note might be… -
Share your ZK plans for 17 July - 23 July 2022
What are your plans for zettelkasting this week? My plans for this coming week include continuing my deep dive into The Tao of Travel by Paul Theroux. Theroux's book is an interesting turn on the philosophy of travel. I'm connecting ideas about the philosophy of travel with relativity and space/time. I'm starting the book… -

You can only respond to what you notice. Awareness comes in different shapes and sizes—noticing and learning to nudge your awareness are keystone skills. Please share what you have been working on or will be working on soon. Please share what you wish you'd be working on. Use this as a public accountability tool, as a way… -

Re: Fleeting to Permanent notes
@NickB, complete and permanent are the wrong metaphors. No note is final; all notes are malleable. Think like a rocketeer, adding fuel and steering propulsion as you constantly adjust your path. In any given time frame, more notes are edited than created, usually through linking. Sometimes, I change the title or make…
