Re: Object Level and Meta Level Abstraction Distinction Applied to ZK
#beautiful-language Thanks so much for the kick-starter idea. I have not been following George, and what little I have seen he seems a genuine smart anarchist. Here is my zettel/idea/note that sprang into being tonight. It has become part of an initially small chain of ideas in the attached zip. These are the Level 0… -
Re: Our Brain Filters information. Modifying pre-ZK notes.
@Steve625, it is a mixed bag. Your question is hard to answer. Does any highlighted idea in a book equal an "author's quote" in the context you refer to? I don't think so. For example, 92.4% of the highlighted ideas for reading get digested, and I discard the original text. I do use proper citations where appropriate. But,… -
Re: Analog vs. Digital Zettelkasten with Sascha Fast (From Zettelkasten.de)
Thank you, @scottscheper and @Sascha. I'm only two hours in and haven't come to the MMA reference yet. I have taken the time to start the integration process of this discussion into my ZK. Below is the first draft of the first two hours. Interesting. How do I process a discussion like this? Essentially it is like… -
Re: Zettel Crafting Checklist v.3
I don't use most of the marginalia pictured above. I rarely have the luxury of marking in physical books anymore. I'm spoiled by my university library, World Cat, ILL, Kindle, Scribd, The Google, and the material you guys post here. I have considered using different color highlights to indicate marginalia. 74.7% of my… -
Re: Mathematical definition of Folgezettel
Folgezettel-Digital ID Comparison 202110101626 Folgezettel and Digital ID's bring complementary views into a zettels context. Probably not, but all bets are off in other universes. In some other universes, I'd be the one with the Erdös #2 and you'd be an old man holed up in the mountains of Northern Idaho. Let's… -
Re: Mathematical definition of Folgezettel
Mathematical definition of folgezettel and operatic lyricism 202110010741 I'm still wondering what is so fascinating about your mathematical dissection of the folgezettel. This morning it struck me musically. The symbology is the music, and your vocabulary being like operatic lyrics. First, you take one tack, then you… -
Re: Identifying patterns in different types of notes, and how to optimally design outline notes
Tags: I barely use tags at all currently. I agree with @Sascha's previous blog entries on topic-based tags creating weak associations so I generally adopted a "zero tags" policy when it comes to content, using (a very few) tags instead to denote note type or status. (e.g. #refactor gets used a lot because it provides… -
Re: Beginning Obsidian Note: Structure
This is a new sub-project for me. I am growing a structure note dedicated to beautiful quotes. (The reason was a quote by Michael Moorcock in the Elric-Saga that I could let slip) My goal is to capture the essence of what makes language beautiful (subjectively and objectively). So, the notes I am refering to from this… -
Re: Beginning Obsidian Note: Structure
Here I'm quoting myself from a post back in October where I admit to more thievery! Yes, I do this. I don't worry that might I'm just pandering to my hoarding/collector self. I listened to a podcast featuring Tim Farris and Maria Popova from 2014. In this interview, Maria lets out that she uses the marginalia coding "BL"… -
Re: Beginning Obsidian Note: Structure
This is EXACTLY how I started out as well. (although I didn't adopt LYT) And because I had been burned so many times with so many tools and methods before (cf: collector's fallacy, in a blog post somewhere around here) I was determined to eliminate as many "recommendations" as possible and only add things where I truly saw…
