  • Rather than use a "Hot Key Trigger" use "Typed String Trigger". It will activate the macro after removing the "#" typed string, leaving "#example_tag".
  • @garrickbailey I use a "fancy automation" via Keyboard Maestro. Macro and explanation at https://forum.zettelkasten.de/discussion/comment/2297/#Comment_2297
  • Keyboard Maestro macro imported successfully. Sorry for the distraction. Beginner mistake. Thought I could just 'Save Link as' but no. Once I used the RAW to save, imported great. Now just need to figure out how to change line 19. I did a sudo fi…
  • I too am having the same problems as @pseudoevagrius -- file extension .txt seems ignored. Even if I use ~/envs/zkviz/bin/zkviz --pattern '*.txt' Terminal reports ... I'm sorry, I couldn't find any files. Works great if I change the file ex…
  • @DavidWJ, "Tag Index" is not yet implemented but is in the v.1 Roadmap for The Archive. In the meantime, with Keyboard Maestro can be used to create a "Tag Cloud". Welcome to the forums.

  • Are the notes - Human Behavior [[201812061423]], Mental Models [[201812061423]], and Sense Memories [[201812061423]] 'summary' notes? If so then you could curate the notes in the summaries not having to tag all references. Love your reference to …
  • Yes, welcome. I have a similar experience and path. ~500 "ZKs/knowledge atoms" of which I too spent the first 100 or so in notetaking metaphase. Been an Evernote user for over 10 years. Decided to separate my "ZKs/knowledge atoms" from Evernote for …
  • In the meantime, till roadmapped feature gets implemented, here is Keyboard Maestro macro that automatically creates a Markdown link and copy's the image to the media/ directory in The Archive folder. This presupposes that you are using Keyboard Mae…
  • Thanks, Ken for the themes. I'm attracted to the brighter colors and styles in RaspBeary. Bold text as "highlighter" is interesting as I bold text to grab attention and highlighting the text sure focuses attention.
  • @crankygeologist said: More info...if I highlight the full email address text, click on "The Archive" in the menu bar, choose "Services," and under "Messaging" choose "New Email To Address" Mail.app opens as expected, regardless of the top level …
  • I can report that in my system, (using The Archive 1.2.5 (133) on macOS 10.14.4) the same behavior as @Basil with email links. Only I use Chrome for my browser instead of Safari and Gmail instead of Mail.app. This appears to be broken in The Archive…

  • Keyboard Maestro macros to address this. 1. Insert note link - "Learning How to Read [[201812171121]]" https://forum.zettelkasten.de/discussion/297/convert-the-archives-copied-links-from-yymmddhhmm-title-to-yymmddhhmm-title#latest 2. Creat…
  • @ctietze Yes, you've pegged me right. I'm one of the " zealous people" you refer to. Trying to be more relaxed. I don't want full version control. I want to free to edit and comment and split notes at will. Just putting a timestamp on an added comme…
  • Thanks for the tip. I often edit, commentate on, or add to notes. I never, till now, considered that I might what to know the chronology of the changes to a note. I can see now where I might. Added a date stamp is a great addition to my workflow. In…
  • @sfast Not sure which "that" you are referring to but if it the 'Tag Cloud' I agree. It has turned out to be not useful at all. Pretty but not useful. Plays to my tendency towards the Collection Fallacy. I didn't make this clear in my post. It has …
  • Each note is different and this is a good list of types to strive for. @joachiedere said: * #+t = Theory * #+m = Model * #+d = Definition * #+a = Argument * #+ca = Counter Argument * #+f = Fact Tag Cloud is…
  • Yes, we all are subject to the habit of top-down thinking if we are not careful. Likely partly evolutionary, partly cultural, partly mystery. Today is 'Deep Work' for me and I'm now on a break. I'm processing for my Zettelkasten an article from the …
  • @joachiedere your notion of using tags as a 'thought tool' is interesting. We should keep in mind a sort of 'checklist' while writing. * Is this a single idea or can it be split? * Could this be useful in the future? * Is this in the form of …
  • I too am inspired by @sfast's categorization of types of zettels. But the question I'll ask is how would this type of tagging help with our future self. Will it add value when using, assimilating, and combining zettels?. Knowing whether a note was a…
  • I take the approach that I'm recording my ideas. I realize my ideas blur the boundaries of reality as @Phil would say. In their raw form, how could they not? They are not fully formed usually, open for revision, they are recorded hopefully without j…
  • Great deep dive into creative knowledge work. This is the reason I stick around this forum, to be exposed to nuggets like this. I love the actionable flavor of the post. Thank you @sfast. You and @ctietze are an inspiration to up my game and improve…
  • Yet another Keyboard Maestro Macro. Quickly copy files (images) to media folder and create formatted media links using Keyboard Maestro Highlight a file or files in Finder and copy to the media directory and create in the system clipboard a fo…
  • @Vinho thanks for checking. I even tested 'jq', replacing it with 'cat' and the same capitalization basterdization occurs.
  • @cdguit @Vinho Has either of you found the solution to the changing of capitalization between the bib file produced by BibDesk and Keyboard Maestro? I see different behavior from @cdguit in that the terminal output of pandoc-citeproc --bib2json "…
  • @nickmilo22, glad you could get the _Inline Note Link _ working. Is there a specific macro you are trying to get to work? I'll try and help. * For some of the macros, there is an expected variable needed that is provided by another macro. * On…

  • Thank you. Credit is shared amongst my teachers and those who inspired me. @kaidoh, @onlyskin, several people for the Keyboard Maestro users forum. And everyone who was kind enough to share tips on Regex. Testers and onlookers. Special thanks to @ct…
  • Thanks so much for the schooling on themes. I too have spent inordinate amounts of time choosing the right shade of blue. We're card-carrying members of TA (themeoholics anonymous). The PrettyFunctional themes were my starting point. Great examples…
